She Dipped Hair Into Water. Sounds Crazy, But The Result? GLAMOUROUS!

I know how to make quite a few things from scratch — like marinara sauce, chicken broth, mayo, vanilla extract, even deodorant. But there are some things people make from scratch that boggle my mind.

For instance, how does one make a knife board, shelf, or coffee table from scratch? I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I suppose with a piece of wood, but if I attempted any of that, all I’d get in return would be a bunch of splinters.

Basically, I’m not handy.

So when someone makes something from raw fleece — like Imgur user wootwootkabloof did — that comes straight from a sheep’s back, it blows my mind! I see a sheep and think: “Aw, I want to pet it!” — Not “Aw, I see a fabulous tapestry/sweater/blanket/socks in that sheep's hair.”

When I saw the end result of this homemade wonder, my brain stopped functioning clearly for a moment. I thought, "Baah! How'd they do that?"

I just can’t fathom how you start with a barnyard animal and end up with something wearable. It's incredible…

It all started with a sheep named Angelina, who lives on a farm in Pennsylvania. She is a crossbreed of the Romney, Lincoln, and Blue Faced Leicester breeds.

Angelina provided lots of raw fleece. Locks of wool had to be separated from it.

The locks had to be gently soaked in boiling water until the water ran clear.

While the wool dried, wool combs were set up.

The wool was transferred back and forth between the combs until the wool was soft and the fibers were aligned.

Then 643 yards of wool were spun. The colors are entirely natural. No wool was dyed.

Different shades of gray were created by carefully sorting the locks of wool before spinning them.

A loom was used to weave the fabric.

Eventually, the form of a dress began to take shape.

The dress was sewed together with a lace-up system in the back.

The final product — a wool dress made from SCRATCH!
