If you can dream it, you can do.
Nine-year-old Ken had a dream of helping local sick, stray animals find forever homes, so earlier this year, this amazing little boy from the Philippines started the Happy Animals Club out of his family's garage.
The no-kill shelter gained funding from generous online donors after his story hit the net. Ken's father helps him the run the website, and together, they collect donations to fund the vet care and dog food that must be specially imported, a costly expense in the Philippines.
"We got enough money to get the dogs I was feeding off the street, feed them high quality canned food, and provide them with veterinary care," Ken wrote on his website. "My dad told me it would take a lot of money and 20 years for me to get an animal shelter. He said only grown-ups can raise enough money to start an animal shelter."
But wait until you see what Ken has accomplished in just months. It's truly an inspiration.

Earlier this year, and with the help of his father, Ken first built The Happy Animals Club as a temporary shelter in his family's garage. Now, just months later, he has his very own space!

It all started when photos of Ken feeding stray dogs went viral, and people from all over the world were eager to lend Ken a hand and help him accomplish his dream of running an animal shelter.

"I’m embarrassed to say I was pretty disgusted," Ken's father wrote on Reddit of first seeing the stray dogs they took in. "But my son changed my perspective entirely."

All three of the strays Ken took in were suffering from malnourishment and mange, a skin disease caused by parasitic mites. Ken's father made sure that his son handled them carefully.

Ken named the three strays Blackie, Brownie and White Puppy.

He planned on putting the fur babies up for adoption after helping them regain their strength and livelihood.

Ken enlisted the help of a veterinarian, who assessed and treated the dogs' conditions with shots and plenty of baths.

"They gained a LOT of weight, their open wounds healed, and their fur grew back," Ken wrote of his shelter dogs.

"They also learned not to be scared of humans."

Thanks to generous donations, Ken raised enough money to sign a one-year lease on his own space for street animals!

Construction of the official Happy Animals Club began in June.

This is how Blackie, Brownie, and White Puppy looked after staying in Ken's shelter, healed, healthy, and ready for adoption!

The Happy Animals Club is the first no-kill animal shelter on the island of Mindanao.

Thanks to Ken and his supporters, these beautiful dogs and those like him will have a second chance at life.
