This Dog Nearly Drowned. You Won’t Believe Who Saved Him! INCREDIBLE!

Dogs have proven themselves as man's best friend, but they're always looking out for their four-legged pals, too. One dog in Illinois is being hailed a hero after coming to the rescue of his canine companion who fell through thin ice and was drowning in a pond.

As the black Labrador struggled to stay above water and was suffering from hypothermia, his pal ran to get help. When maintenance workers at the nearby Water and Sewage Treatment heard the agitated barks, they rushed to see what was wrong and discovered the other dog was trapped in the frozen pond.

"I had just sat down for lunch when one of our guys, Joe Dungan, came back to the building and said he heard dogs barking and he looked around and one was in the water," Matt Stark, a worker at the treatment plant told ABC News. "The other was running around in circles in the ice trying to get to it and saying almost like, 'Save my friend.' "

The dog faced certain death and was running out of time, so Stark grabbed a boat and was able to drag Buck, a 10-year-old black Labrador, out of the freezing water. According to reports, the dog was shaken but was said to be in good shape after being checked out by a veterinarian at the Rock Island County Animal Care and Control.
