Mom’s 3-Year-Old Son Goes Missing In The Woods, Then Stranger Says His Hunting Dog Can Help

When 3-year-old Eli Alcock disappeared in the woods last year, his mother Lindsy thought she'd never see her son again. Terrified, she begged her community for help.

"Imagining never seeing him again… never hearing him again. Just the reality of what was happening, I mean, it was hard," she said.

Lindsy asked Doug Downs, a local pastor and the owner of an experienced deer-hunting dog, to help.

“[She] asked me if Honey, who… [I’ve] been tracking deer with her for three years, [and Lindsy] asked me if she would do anything,” Doug recalled.

“The pressure was on,” he said, because while Honey had a keen nose, she had never tracked humans before. Doug thought it was a long shot, but he wasn’t going to say “no” to a mother or her lost child.

Doug and Honey searched for hours, until finally, Eli was found safe and sound in the woods.

“Of course, I was ecstatic,” Lindsy said. “I was thanking God and it was so amazing… everybody was hugging.”

“The good Lord was watching over us,” Doug added. “He showed up through a four-legged dog, and he showed us his power that night, and that’s really where all the credit it due.”

Eli doesn’t remember what happened, but Lindsy plans to tell him all about how Honey the dog saved him.
