Homeless Bulldog Is Blinded By Skin Flaps Over His Eyes. 3 Weeks Later, He Looks So Different

Many dog owners and dog lovers alike are familiar with the condition known as entropion. PedMD defines entropion as a "genetic condition in which a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward." The condition can cause a number of ailments, like eyes being scratched by lashes or scar tissue on the skin. In more severe cases, entropion can mean a potential loss of vision for dogs.

Sadly, that is what happened to a homeless bulldog named Dude.

Dude was recently brought in to the Vet Ranch with a particularly severe case of entropion.

Although the condition is not unusual — in fact, it's very common in bulldogs — Dude's particular affliction rendered him completely unable to see through the flaps of skin on his eyes.

Basically, poor Dude was blind.

The vet in the video below even showed that, when trying to open Dude's eyes, the flaps would force his eyeballs to roll backward.

Surgery was the only course of action to give the poor pup his eyesight. Since he was also homeless, the Vet Ranch was also going to give him all his shots in the hopes that after he was up and about, he would find his forever home.

The surgery to fix entropion is actually pretty straight forward. Three weeks after the procedure, Dude was a completely new dog!
