In an extraordinary tale of resilience and compassion, a homeless dog with a pumpkin-sized head has defied all odds and transformed into a thriving canine, barely recognizable from the sorry state he was found in.
The Houston K-911 found a dog wandering the streets with his head down from the weight of how swollen it was, and his skinny body barely able to keep up. They found the poor dog hiding in an abandoned apartment building. He was scared when they approached him, but they were able to coax him into a kennel to take him to the vet.
Anna Barbosa the founder of K-911 stated: “He had no hope, no sense of anybody ever caring for him. And he was still a puppy. He was only 10 months old.” They found out that he had a shoestring wrapped around his neck that must have been put there when he was smaller.
The shoestring was not removed and when he got bigger, the shoestring cut into his neck. This poor dog did not have the best start. Along with the shoestring causing him horrible discomfort, he was also hit by a car that shattered his pelvis, and 26 pieces of bullet shrapnel were found in his leg.
The dog did not fight any of the help that he was receiving. It was almost as if he knew they were going to make him better. Even though the process was long, he was a trooper!
He was in the hospital for about a month, and then Anna brought him home to her house to complete his recovery. The images of him running around, playing with toys, and jumping with excitement is far from the dog we saw at the beginning of this video.

The better he got, the more his personality flourished. He didn’t have a problem with other dogs, he got along with everyone, and his temperament was fantastic.
Anna was going to adopt him out after he recovered, but it didn’t take her long to make the decision to adopt him herself. He is finally living the life that he deserves, thanks to Houston K-911!
