Kangaroo Rescued Ten Years Ago Still Hasn’t Stopped Thanking Her Caregivers With Hugs

Usually, rescue animals are skittish and afraid of people. Sometimes it takes years for them to even become comfortable around the very people who saved their lives.

That's not the case with Abi the kangaroo who is referred to as "Queen Abi" around The Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs, Australia where she reigns.

She was rescued as a little joey (baby kangaroo) ten years ago and has lived at the Sanctuary ever since. All signs point to her being the happiest kangaroo ever.

At the sanctuary their mission is, "Animals come first. We rescue, rehabilitate and release orphaned baby kangaroos back into the wild. Those who can't be released into the wild are released into the worlds of our 188 acre Sanctuary."

As nice as the great big outback may sound, Abi seems to prefer to stay in the sanctuary, where she gives her keepers daily hugs as if to say "thanks."

Queen Abi is a red kangaroo and as the biggest of the species can reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.

However, Abi doesn't seem to have as much of a need for speed as she does for a daily hug with her caregivers.

Although known to defend their territory in the wild and not cozy up to humans, Abi and many of the other kangaroos in the sanctuary set themselves apart.

When Abi isn't spending time with her favorite humans, she's hopping around the sanctuary with her fellow kangaroo friends.
