Sometimes, it feels like it can be tough trying to keep up with all the sports competitions happening during the Olympics. Some of them are very popular, like swimming, gymnastics, or track racing. But others are virtually unknown, like shooting, or the trampoline.
Somewhere in between, there's dressage — one of my favorite competitions during the Olympics!
It combines the grace of dance and a routine with the beauty of the human-animal bond. After all, you won't believe what these horses can do until you see it for yourself! The "equine ballet" requires patience, discipline, and a rider-horse bond like no other.
Spain's Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez and his horse, Lorenzo, competed in the dressage portion of the competition, and though the routine may seem standard, it's the level of control and perfect timing of this horse that really impresses us.
The pair performed to the tune of Santana's "Smooth." The animal alternately moves his hooves in such a way that they gently hit the ground with every beat, and it's almost mesmerizing.
What do you think Lorenzo should "dance" to next? Let us know in the comments below!
Now watch the clip to see the duo perform their routine at an earlier event — and don't forget to keep an eye on the horse's legs.
