Authorities in Sacramento are searching for a 47-year-old William Meek, who, in addition to drug charges, is facing severe animal cruelty charges.
Meek is charged with killing his dog Zelda by throwing her into the water with a bowling ball bag attached to her leash, essentially strangling her and drowning her.
“There’s no explanation for that. How could that possibly be humane or just?” Asked Gina Knepp, who works at Front Street Animal Shelter, and who met Zelda when she came through the shelter a few years ago. Luckily, Zelda was microchipped, which helped authorities track down Meek. The only problem is that Meek skipped his court hearing, and is now on the run from his multiple charges.
