Just months ago, an abandoned German shepherd named Missy was found abandoned. The sick dog was undernourished and heartworm-positive and set to be euthanized. Luckily, the stray was sent to
Plano Animal Services to see if she could find a forever home.
When employee Jackie Konold saw Missy, she knew the dog was special. She decided the three-year-old canine would be the perfect fit for Rebuilding Warriors, a nonprofit that gives about six service dogs a year to wounded veterans. After her training was finished this week, Missy got to meet her new forever family. The loyal and compassionate canine will serve as a service dog for U.S. Army veteran, Sgt. Michael Barker. It's so great to see this dog being able to overcome the odds and also help a soldier, who desperately needs this loyal companion.
