We live in a world full of truly incredible creatures. If we tried to count all of them, well… I'm sure a biologist has estimated the number, but we're discovering new species every day, and it's a lot.
It's so, so important to do our very best to protect them all, since every animal plays a role in the ecosystem.
From the smallest, single-celled organisms to the biggest, most behemoth whale in the sea, every creature plays a part. Bees pollinate flowers, spiders kill deadly mosquitoes, algae feeds an incredible amount of sea creatures, and the list goes on and on.
You may not know it, but you could be harming these creatures in ways that you'd never even think of. We can all try our very best, but the truth is that we're living in these wild animals' space, and we really need to learn how to fully respect that!
Sea turtles are protected by the federal government, as they're on the list of endangered species. I would never, ever, intentionally do any harm to a sea turtle.
But, as it turns out, there are things that I have done in the past that could have potentially harmed one.
If you live in a place native to sea turtles, or if you ever visit these spots, this information is crucial.
I'm so glad I know this now. I'll never put these beautiful creatures in danger again!
