Shy Cheetah Cub Gets A Lifelong Friend In This Rescue Puppy

Here at LittleThings, we know well that us humans have a lot to learn from the animal kingdom when it comes to acceptance, compassion, and friendship.

We're constantly hearing about amazing stories of animals overlooking their differences and helping one another when they need someone to lean on, or just don't want to feel alone in this great big, scary world of ours. The following story of a tiny cheetah cub and his new pal is quickly going viral, because it's such a wonderful example of this kind of unusual friendship.

Shortly after tiny newborn cub Kumbali was born at the Metro Richmond Zoo, it became clear to the animal handlers watching him that something was wrong with this newborn cub. Kumbali wasn't growing like he should, so the workers started to bottle feed him to ensure healthy growth. Thankfully, their plan ended up working and Kumbali turned into a playful, healthy little cub, but it was clear that something was still off. Kumbali needed a companion, so the staff introduced him to another newborn, 10-week-old lab mix Kago.

Although this kind of unique friendship wouldn't happen in the wild, as you can see in this video, dogs are often used in captivity to teach anxious cheetahs to not be such "scaredy cats." Their special bond blows me away… I'm so happy these two will have a lifelong friendship!
