U.S. Marine Reunites With (And Adopts!) The Dog That Saved His Life. Incredible.

While fighting in Afghanistan, Marine Lance Cpl. Brad O’Keefe forged a deep bond with a bomb-sniffing dog named Earl. While overseas the two were inseparable, whether they were conducting routine patrols or back at the barracks, they were always together. However, it was during one of those routine patrols when Earl went into action and gave off a warning to the entire group of 13 soldiers, including O'Keefe, that an IED was nearby. Even though the IED exploded, Earl gave enough warning and was able to save every single solider that day.

O'Keefe was severely injured that day and after receiving medical care was sent back to his hometown of Rochester, N.Y. to recover and retire. As for Earl, injured himself, he ran back to the barracks immediately after the explosion and stayed with O'Keefe's belongings. Although the two made it out alive, neither knew where the other one was.

O'Keefe was heartbroken by not having his right-hand dog by his side so O'Keefe's sister made it her life's mission to track down the dog that saved her brother's life. She finally did, and you'll never guess where he ended up: adopted into the family, forever.
