I’ve never fully understood the pull to build a gargantuan structure in one’s backyard. Do these innovative people want their creations to be seen from a passing satellite? What about ending up on the local news? Or is it as simple as blocking the neighbors’ sunlight?
Whatever the case, YouTube sensation Colin Furze set out to build himself something I’d never even heard of until now: a 360-degree swing.
By stepping onto the little space carved out for his foot, he can use his own weight to build the momentum necessary to swing his entire body around the structure.
Uh, yeah. That definitely looks dangerous! It’s certainly fun to watch — but I have to admit that I would never, ever ride it.
For more elaborate builds that look like they were created on a movie set rather than in someone’s town, I’d check out the guy who constructed his own personal planetarium. (You can actually visit it, too!) There’s also the man who has been building a cathedral — by hand — for the past 54 years.
Hey, at least these creators are ambitious. It would take nothing less to put these elaborate DIYs together!
Would you give Furze’s swing a try if you had the chance? That’s assuming you don’t get motion sickness, of course — which this thing needs a very clear warning on.
