Think that's a real feather? Look again. Artist Jordan Molina has taken 3-D drawing to a whole new level. When 3-D art is really done right (like these mind-blowing 3-D tattoos and this sidewalk chalk street art), the pieces appear to jump right off the page through a combination of shading techniques.
In the video, Molina teaches us how to create a 3-D feather illusion using seven simple steps. The best part is that it's pretty easy, and you don't have to be an artist is make it. She demonstrates her artistic skills in this short time-lapse video.
To start, you'll simply need:
- A pencil
- Paper
- A ruler
- A pair of scissors
She starts on a 2-D plane, but the end result of the feather — after she uses her scissors — is in 3-D. It’s unbelievable to see the drawing slowly come to life and pop right off the paper. This would be a fun party trick, or even a fun activity to do with kids! Anyone can be a 3-D artist — all it takes is a little practice!
