A 99-year-old woman was finally awarded her diploma after a small fee prevented her from earning it 75 years ago! Jessie Rose of Belfast, MN, lived with polio as a young woman and was given money to attend college. She attended classes on crutches, and had used all the money she had to attend classes. She could not afford the diploma fee of just $5.
When a family friend heard Jessie's story, he contacted the college and sent them the $5. The university was blown away by the story, and not only awarded Jessie her long overdue diploma and degree in Stenography and Bookkeeping, but also a cap and gown. She intends to continue pursuing education, as it's her one true passion. This is so INCREDIBLE!! I'm so happy for Jessie!
