While filming TV show Wild at Heart in Africa, the crew was forced to launch a dramatic rescue after one of its stars, Lucy the giraffe, got loose and fell into a swimming pool near the set. The crew's rescue operation was all caught on tape.
At first, the men on set called the fire brigade and had to drain the pool. They were eventually forced to demolish the pool and build steps out of sandbags in order to free the female giraffe. Finally, after an all-night rescue, the helpless giraffe was finally saved!
According to the show's producer, animals are free to roam the reserve, and although they are very mindful of their safety, accidents can happen. They believe Lucy may have been drinking from the pool and lost her balance, falling into the pool.
Thanks to these great rescue workers, the giraffe is safe and was unharmed from the incident.
