This is such a terrifying story, but thank God it came to this conclusion. A 28-year-old woman from Volusia County, Florida told authorities her boyfriend put her through a week of pure and utter hell.
On a Wednesday night, he began physically assaulting her before using his gun to threaten her.
While fighting over the gun, it went off and sent bullets ripping through their home. One of the bullets passed through the drywall and into another room.
For the next two days, the woman was reportedly held inside the home against her will. Then, that following Friday, she decided to use some quick and clever thinking in an effort to save her own life.
She convinced the armed suspect to let her take their dog to their local veterinarian. He agreed, but insisted on going with her and continued to hold her at gunpoint. On the way to DeLand Animal Hospital, he allegedly pointed the gun at her and threatened to kill her and her family.

After the pair walked into the vet's office, she secretly dropped a note to one of the staff members.
"Call the cops," it read. "My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don't let him know."
It was a huge risk… but this is the note that potentially saved her life.
