Son Celebrates His 11th Birthday, But He Refuses To Accept Any Gifts

Bryson Powell left many stunned when he said he would not be taking any gifts at his birthday party. The boy from Houston told his parents and party guests alike that instead of bringing him any presents, he wanted them to bring $5 to donate to Family Promise.

Family Promise provides toys to homeless children who aren't lucky enough to have family or friends who can provide them with gifts. Bryson was able to collect over $200 once word got out about his idea to pay it forward.

Eventually, local business Monroe Blain's Farm & Fleet decided to take things one step further. In Bryson's honor, they donated $5,000 worth of toys to the organization, which will go a long way in helping kids in need.

Although the project was a success, Bryson was originally doubtful that it would work out.

"You don’t see a lot of kids on the news, and I just didn't think I could pull this off,” the boy said.

Needless to say, he has made his dad proud with his big heart and can-do attitude.

"We thought it was over after his birthday, and it just keeps going," said his father, Robert Powell. "I am just tickled for him."

If you could pay it forward to one cause, which would you pick? Let us know in the comments!
