Who knew? What a simple way to stop your cut up apple from turning brown… and all you need is a rubber band or hair tie!
Apples turn brown because of a chemical reaction called "oxidation" when oxygen molecules come into contact with the air. Other types of oxidation include rusting and burning. That's not to say brown apples are inedible… but they're definitely not as favorable as those that are fresh and crisp.
I never knew about this easy trick to keeping apples from turning brown… did you?!
