When I’m getting ready for a trip, I start packing at least two weeks before my flight.
I love to be as prepared as possible. I look at the maps of both airports I will be visiting that day to make my trip as seamless as possible.
Only recently did I start really using my carry-on privileges to maximum capacity. If I don’t have to check a bag, I really don’t want to pay that extra fee!
I’ve never packed anything too crazy in my carry-on or checked luggage, but it’s not surprising at all to hear that airport security officers have seen some wild things while at work.
Can you image looking through the airport X-ray machine and seeing a baby on the screen? I think I’d lose my mind!
I'm not sure what's worse: that, or seeing a weird substance pass by the screen, only to find that it’s a fully cooked meal!

1. A Baby
Yes, you read that correctly — airport security once found a baby. A family tried smuggling their young son through TSA because he did not have a travel visa. Quite obviously, he was spotted through the X-ray and quickly taken out.
2. A Cannonball
A cannonball isn’t exactly something you’d expect to bring on an airplane, but one passenger thought they’d at least try when flying out of Fort Lauderdale. Apparently, they’d found it while diving and wanted to keep it as a souvenir!
3. Live Cockroaches
I’m not sure which is worse: living or dead cockroaches in a suitcase. Both sound absolutely horrifying.
4. Hundreds Of Condoms
At least they were trying to be responsible!
5. A Body
Someone watched a little too much Weekend At Bernie's before traveling! One family tried to sneak a dead body through security by tossing glasses on a deceased man and putting him in a wheelchair. Needless to say, TSA was not fooled.
6. 240 Live Fish
Many people might not be aware of the policies that airlines have for shipping animals, but I can assume they should know that you can’t just pack them in your suitcase, right? Well, one man attempted to pack four suitcases full of water and 240 fish.
7. A Samurai Sword
I’d love to hear the explanation this person gave for trying to get a samurai sword past security.
8. A Machete
Like the samurai sword, I’d like to see this interaction. Apparently, one father forgot to pack this in his checked luggage and attempted to get it through in his carry-on. What is most surprising is that he actually did make it on the plane — he was just told to check the weapon during his layover flight.
9. Cooked Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a super tasty meal for breakfast if you have all the right fixings! But I’ve never tried to travel with already made oatmeal. One person thought differently and filled their entire suitcase to the brim with oatmeal.
10. Skull Fragments
Yep, not a full human skull – just pieces of one! A flight leaving Fort Lauderdale was delayed when the flier's luggage went through security and it was determined that the pots they were traveling with contained pieces of a human skull.
11. Snake In A Bottle
While traveling in Vietnam, one traveler picked up a bottled snake, which only cost them about $4. Unsurprisingly, it was taken from them at the airport. What surprised them most, though, was that a few weeks later, they received the snake in the mail with a letter saying it wasn’t endangered.
