When you get strapped in to a scary amusement park ride, it's easy to assume the worst is going to happen while you're spinning, dropping, or zooming around. So when a mom and son got on a ride called "The Catapult," it was only natural for their friends and family to make jokes like, "The ropes are looking a little frayed," and "Did they sign the insurance waivers?" But those innocent jokes turned out to be more ominous than they thought when something crazy happened right before these two were launched into the air.
Even on unbelievably scary rides like this massive roller coaster, it's extremely rare for accidents to happen at amusement parks. That's why so many of us feel comfortable getting on rides that leave our throats raw from screaming. But having a rope snap on a slingshot-style ride mere moments before it throws you skyward is not the kind of fear you ever hope to experience when you go looking for thrills.
I can't believe how calm both the woman and her son were when that massive rope snapped and slammed the ground right beside them. If I were the one sitting there, I would have been screaming even louder than these two girls that were utterly terrified by an intense amusement park ride! They must have been way too shocked to even truly realize what had just happened.
There's no doubt that these two have a guardian angel watching over them. I love amusement park rides as much as anyone else, but I'm definitely going to think twice before I decide to go on a ride like this in the future. I'm just glad they're OK!
