Convert An Old TV Cabinet Into A Baby Armoire

If you have an old television cabinet you're dying to get rid of, this easy tutorial might change your mind! Television cabinets were a great way to disguise those old-fashioned televisions when they weren't in use. These days, just about every TV set is a massive flat-screen. Needless to say, for most households, the television cabinet is an obsolete piece of furniture. That doesn't mean it can't be put to good use, though.

Carmen De La Paz of Home Made Simple shows us how to convert an old TV cabinet into a baby armoire. With a few coats of paint, coat hooks, a closet rod, and some easy upholstering, the cabinet almost seamlessly converts into the perfect closet for a baby or toddler's clothing. Carmen even shows us how to get the perfect antique finish using paint and a dishrag.

Even if you don't plan on making the armoire, the painting technique can be applied to other projects to get that stunning shabby-chic finish. All you have to do is add a light coat of brown paint on top of the color you want. Then smear the brown paint with a dishrag until it becomes streaky and less opaque!
