For elephants, the trunk is an essential tool for social behavior. A mother will wrap her trunk protectively around her baby. As they grow older, they use their trunks to touch, explore, and embrace.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen such a cute interaction between different species — from inseparable interspecies pals to surprising bonds between predator and prey. The meeting reminds me a lot of the tiny kitten who met a hedgehog or the huge dog that met a tiny pig. Their reactions really are priceless.
