It is such an awesome thing when your child gets to the age when they begin to talk. Their first word is something you will likely remember forever, and once they say it you will be eager to try and teach them to say more and more.
A babbling baby means that now they can verbalize to you what they want and how they feel. Sometimes they will even surprise you and say an entire sentence when you least expect it, like the baby who told her dad "I love you."
But as many parents know, babies and parents have many ways of communicating with one another long before they can speak.
A mother's voice is enough to calm a baby, although they have no idea what it is you are saying. The expression on your baby's face can tell you that they are happy, upset, or confused and not quite sure what to think, like the look one baby gave her mom when she experienced brain freeze for the first time.
The best way a baby can communicate before speaking though, has to be their through their adorable little grunts, groans, and cooing.
This baby and her dad have this form of communication perfected to a T, having an entire conversation with just a few little grunts. If we had to guess what they were saying, we'd say they were most likely telling one another how much they love each other!
