Have you ever wondered what those tiny black pods at the beach are?
The following video finally gives us the answer… And it's unlike anything I would have ever expected!
Growing up at the beach, my friends and I would always come across those small black egg cases that would wash up on shore. You'd also see them from time to time caught in a fishing net, but up until recently I honestly wasn't quite sure what I was looking at.
Chances are you've seen the same black egg cases before on a trip to the beach, only they were hollow inside. We've seen some pretty fascinating egg hatching videos here at LittleThings, but up until I came across the following video, I never knew what kind of animal hatched from these strange little capsules.
Just like when we saw this fisherman help a pregnant stingray give birth to her pup, the video below shows us the true miracle of life when a newborn skate emerges from its egg. While the origin of this video is unknown, it's clear from the background noises that I wasn't the only one overjoyed by this incredible moment caught on camera.
