Bachelorette Party Poses For Photo And Sees ‘Ghost’ Of Boy Who Drowned In Lake Behind Them

One summer, a group of 10 girlfriends traveled to a remote estate in Scotland for a bachelorette party. They stayed at the historic Coylet Inn, located near the waters of Loch Eck.

The women decided to pose for a couple of group photos in front of the lake and the gorgeous, rolling hills.

Moments later, they gathered around the camera to review the snapshots.

The first picture was totally normal. But the second picture, taken in quick succession with the first, left them so terrified they apparently checked out of the Inn early.

Scroll down to see the eerie photo in question… and its connection to a truly creepy urban legend.

This is the eerie story about a group of 10 girlfriends who, during their hen party, visited a remote estate in Scotland to celebrate a bride-to-be.

In Europe, a "hen party" is what they call a bachelorette party.

During the summer, the women stayed at The Coylet Inn on the shores of Loch Eck in Argyll, Scotland.

Originally called the "Loch Eck Inn," The Coylet Inn was built in 1650.

In August 2017, a series of photos from the hen party was posted to Reddit.

Though the images were snapped in quick succession, one photo is not like the others.

In the first photo, above, the 10 friends pose for the camera while standing near the waters of Loch Eck and the beautiful hills of Scotland.

The next photo, however, shows a mysterious 11th guest in the background…

Behind the hen party and to the left, you can see a young boy with dark hair suddenly peering out from behind the logs.

Apparently, there were no other people around at the time the photos were taken — especially no children.

It's been said on Twitter that as the friends reviewed their photos and noticed the mysterious "ghost boy," they were so frightened they ended their stay at the Inn and went home early.

Things took an even creepier turn after they learned more about the history of Loch Eck.

As it turns out, this so-called "ghost photo" has connections to an urban legend about "The Blue Boy."

Legend has it that a 4-year-old boy, who had a habit of sleepwalking, was staying with his mother at at The Coylet Inn many centuries ago.

One night while he was sleepwalking, the boy got out of bed and wandered towards the Loch Eck, entered the frigid waters and drowned.

When his body was found the next day, it had turned blue from the cold — hence the nickname "The Blue Boy."

According to Scottish Ghosts by Dane Love, the child's spirit still haunts the Inn and its surrounding areas in the attempt to find his mother.

Over the years, guests and staff have reported odd sightings, from shifting objects in the rooms to wet footprints in the hallways that lead to nowhere.

The hotel owners claim to have felt the boy's ghostly presence in Room 4, where he and his mother stayed.

The spooky story was even made into a 1994 TV movie starring Emma Thompson entitled, "The Blue Boy."

Apparently, when director Paul Murton was editing the movie, the camera caught a "blueish mist" that the staff had never seen in person.

The Coylet Inn has since been closed down after a fire badly damaged the property.

The Dunoon Observer reported:

There were dramatic scenes on the shore of Loch Eck this morning when a suspected gas explosion in the kitchen of the Coylet Inn started a fire. The 17th Century coaching inn, which has been run by the current family for more than three years, is a well-known and well-loved local attraction.

The kitchen has been totally destroyed, and there is smoke damage throughout the premises. Two members of staff were taken to hospital with burn injuries.

A clearly shocked and devastated owner, Craig Wilson, could barely comment about the disaster. "I have no words. I just don’t know what to say."

It will be months before the Inn is able to open again, a huge loss to the owners, to the local community and to the tourists who visit.

Some commenters say the child in the photo is not a ghost, but rather a sneaky boy who must've noticed the group of pretty girls and snuck into the frame.

Many others, however, believe it's an apparition and don't blame the hen party for leaving The Coylet Inn early.
