Tish Cyrus has filed for divorce from her husband of 28 years, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. This is the third time the parents of five have waded into these waters, but it looks like this is the time that will stick.
Tish chose to file in Williamson County, Tennessee. Her documents indicate the pair are splitting due to "irreconcilable differences" and that they have not lived together for two years.
The twosome married in 1993 and have five children together: Miley, Noah, Brandi, Trace, and Braison.
The first time the pair filed for divorce was in 2010.
In 2010, Billy Ray was the one who initiated the divorce. At the time, the two stated: "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
A year later, Billy Ray revealed the pair were going to stick it out. He told The View, "I’ve dropped the divorce. I want to put my family back together. Things are the best they’ve ever been."
In 2013, Tish was the one to file for divorce. This time around, Tish requested primary legal and physical custody of the pair's daughter, Noah, who was 13. But in July of the same year, the pair had reunited.
Tish and Billy Ray revealed they had begun couple's therapy, explaining, "We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together. We both went into couples therapy something we haven't done in 22 years of being together, and it's brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways."
In 2016, Billy Ray told People that the two were committed to working through their problems. As he put it, "You take it one step at a time. One day at a time. I think one of the most important things in life and in a relationship is, you make adjustments."
