Holy smokes, this is one unbelievable video!
It's difficult to imagine your home burning to the ground — unless it's actually happening. While everyone should be prepared for an emergency, with an escape plan and extinguishers available, there isn't always much you can do when you're already in trouble. That's when we rely on our brave heroes for help.
Here at LittleThings, we've seen our fair share of amazing rescue missions, but I've never encountered something as intense or up close and personal as the footage in the following video. From the perspective of a Brookings County first responder's body camera, we can see the heroes arriving just in the nick of time to a 78-year-old woman's burning home to find her trapped inside.
A local sheriff and two firefighters teamed up to pull the old woman, who was unconscious but still breathing, from her burning home. Deputy Michael Gengler wore the body camera that shows us such shocking firsthand footage of the terrifying fire. As you can see in the video, Gengler and other first responders were delighted to find the woman, but even more surprised to find her cat right there with her. Right after they saved the elderly woman, they were able to successfully pull the cat to safety, too.
