In February of 2014, a group of friends received an email inviting everyone to participate in a photo shoot. One of their own had just been diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease all too common and all too familiar for women (as well as men!).
Perhaps with a photograph to commemorate their incredible bond together, she might have something tangible to take with her as she embarked on the battle that lies ahead.
Except she had no clue that her friends had a surprise in store — one that would leave her absolutely speechless.
After the scheduled photo shoot, all her friends got together in secret and buzzed their hair off in an utterly magnificent show of solidarity. Some of them are in tears as they watch their beautiful locks fall away, others laugh in a sort of stunned, yet delighted, sort of way, as if they can’t quite believe this is happening.
It’s so incredibly important to arm yourself with information regarding cancer in all its forms — and that includes men, too! We can beat cancer by preventing it in the first place, and initial detection starts with you. Even mammograms aren’t 100 percent accurate, so it’s good to check in with yourself.
Following their brave decision at the salon, they gathered at a local restaurant and invited their friend over for the big reveal.
And when she arrives? There’s not a dry eye in the entire room.
