Jennifer Tiner faced every mother's worst nightmare. After bringing home her newborn baby, Bella, her daughter began to suffer seizures. Although the loving mom tried to hold out hope for her daughter, Bella died at 13 months old. The grieving mom didn't know where to turn and prayed that God would show her.
Meanwhile, a little two-pound baby was born 28 weeks early at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, and doctors said breast milk was best to ensure he'd live. Unfortunately, Dekevyon's mother Detra Chappell — like many new moms — couldn't produce any milk. But thanks to Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas and an anonymous donor, the milk began coming in.
The donor turned out to be Tiner, who donated about 33 gallons worth of milk that had originally been for Bella. Thanks to that milk, Dekevyon is now a growing and healthy baby.
The two mothers were finally able to meet this week and the tearful meeting was all captured on camera.
"It's amazing. I'm at a loss for words," Chappell said when she met Tiner. "I'm glad I finally got to meet you, because I was always wondering, 'Now, who is it coming from?' "
Although the pain of losing her daughter is still fresh for Tiner, she finds hope in knowing that her milk was able to save a little boy.
"It's liquid gold, is what it is," Tiner exclaimed.
