Two Brothers Save Hammerhead Shark On The Beach

Hold your breath because this footage of two brothers rescuing a hammerhead shark (along with the beach-goers who could've been injured by it) is heart-stopping!

Given all of the reports of swimmers being bitten, injured or maimed by sharks this summer, you have to applaud the bravery of these fellows.

The brothers were at the Destin, FL shoreline. Once they realized the 10-foot hammerhead was injured, one of the brothers swam out and pulled it to shore — away from people in the water.

When they got a closer look, they saw that it had several deep sea fishing hooks in its mouth and a steel fishing line tangled around its head.

"All of the distress and yelling heard in the background were caused by a natural fear from certain individuals and lack of understanding the situation as well as the behaviors of hammerhead sharks. Once bystanders realized we were trying to help the shark they quickly did what they could to help," one of the brothers wrote.

However, these brave guys are in good company. Recently, an entire group of swimmers helped return a beached great white shark into the waters.

The brothers worked tirelessly with the help of other beach-goers to remove the line and hooks. After they managed to remove the hooks, they pulled the shark back into deep water and it swam away. Now that the shark is safe, it's less likely to come so close to the shore and pose a threat to swimmers.
