Jenna Bush Hager has been a coanchor on The Today Show since 2019. In April 2022, she was able to get in a bit of sister time with her twin, Barbara Pierce Bush, when she filled in for Hoda Kotb on the show. They took the opportunity to promote their children’s book, The Superpower Sisterhood.
The main character in their book is an only child named Emma who’s based on their mother, former first lady Laura Bush.
"Mom had all of these best friends since she was little and tiny … [while] growing up," Barbara explains. "That’s what our book is about — about how we can have blood sisters or build our own family of sisters to support us and make our own powers even more magical."
The twins reveal that growing up, they often felt braver and that they could really take on anything when they had each other by their side.
Jenna reveals that since she got married and had children quite young in life, being her twin, Barbara would often get asked when it was going to be her turn.
“My life was incredibly full. I was so satisfied with work … I didn’t feel like I was missing anything and then yet, this notion that I wasn’t complete unless I got married [existed],” Barbara explains.

Barbara also reveals that she actually started to think about starting the journey of motherhood on her own before she met her husband Craig Coyne in 2018. They welcomed daughter Cora Georgia in September 2021.
She even had the blessing of her late grandmother, former first lady Barbara Bush, as she could see just how much her granddaughter wanted to be a mom.
