When soldiers have been out in the field for a good amount of time, you'd be surprised by how boring it can actually get. With long droughts of utter quiet interspersed with moments of angry firefights, a lot of what a soldier does is just learning to deal with the sheer boredom of the day to day monotony.
Over the centuries, soldiers of all nations and empires have found their own special ways of fighting the boredom; the ancient Roman legions would bet on board games and dice, the crusaders would have races and play with balls, the men in the trenches of WWI played soccer, or card games, and the warriors of today have YouTube!
Stationed in the Kunar Province in Afghanistan, these brave U.S. Army Infantry soldiers found a truly hilarious way to blow off some steam. Singing the ultra-famous hit song "Call Me Maybe," by Carly Rae Jepson, these soldiers needed the morale boost for themselves and for their families back home.
Imagine how this little project helped morale for these soldiers; breaking up the monotony is important to keep these brave men on alert for any real danger on the horizon. Filming this video was not only entertaining and hilarious, but it helped strengthen the bonds of these soldiers while giving them an amazing memory to take with them when they're finally on their way home!
