Camdyn Smith is his mom Kimberly's "hero," according to her. After a devastating X-ray, shown in the video below, it's easy to see that this isn't an overstatement.
In Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Kimberly lives at home with her three boys, including Dylan, a newborn.
And it was at home that, earlier this March, Camdyn arrived home from school to find Kimberly holding Dylan.
But all was not well.
She was having chest pains and trouble breathing.
"I told her she needed to go to the hospital, but she kept saying she just wanted to stay here," Camdyn said.
Kimberly didn't think too much of it, expecting the pain to pass after putting Dylan down and taking a nap herself.
But Camdyn wasn't about to give up. He ignored her protests.
"I kept saying that we needed to go. So I just went and got my shoes and coat on and told her we needed to go."
Finally, she listened to her son, and when she met with her doctor and had some testing done, an ambulance was immediately called to send her to the ER.
An X-ray showed that both her lungs were full of blood clots, causing pulmonary embolisms.
They kept her in the hospital for seven days, telling her that listening to her son was the best thing she could have done.
