The Carolina Panthers Send Underprivileged Children On A Shopping Spree

Thirty fifth graders from A.T. Allen Elementary School in North Carolina were invited to their local sporting goods store. They were greeted with light blue and silver pom-poms and lots of cheering… but they weren't really sure why.

They all gathered around Riley Fields, the communications director for the California Panthers football team. Some of the students thought that maybe they would be able to meet the players, or to possibly play a game of touch football with them, but they never expected the awesome Christmas surprise that awaited them.

These students were selected to win a $200 shopping spree with the pro football players, and when they hear the news? They just cannot believe it! This would be a dream come true for any kid in the world, but for some of these kids, it meant a lot more. Some of these kids come from underprivileged families, so they don't get the opportunity to spend money on gear like this. It really made their holiday!

But what's more is that some of these kids didn't use all of the money on themselves, and put some toward buying gifts for their family. What kind of fifth grader has this kind of generosity? These kids are amazing.

Watching these little kids ride bikes with big burly football players is one of the happiest scenes I've ever laid eyes on. They're like kids in a candy store! (And I'm not talking about the students.)
