When I was 13, I thought I had a lot of pressing concerns. These primarily included boys, homework, and the release date of the next Harry Potter book.
Maybe that’s part of the reason that I’m always so amazed when I see how talented and accomplished lots of young people are at the same age! At the same age that most kids are trying to banish zits and perfect the fine art of liquid eyeliner, some of their peers are out there, performing for crowds of thousands.
It’s truly mind-blowing that someone like Chris Lanzon, just 13 years old, could totally carry the crowd in this note-perfect cover of Vance Joy’s “Riptide.” Lanzon, who made it to the grand finale of the 2014 season of The Voice Kids, might be young, but he definitely has a talent for capturing the crowd!
In some ways, he’s a lot like this 8-year-old girl with the voice of a grown woman. He has a voice that’s mature beyond his years, and he has absolutely no problem capturing a room full of thousands of audience members, with zero visible stage fright.
I doubt that I have ever been this composed, even in my adult life. With this much stage presence, he’s sure to be a super-star in no time! Check out his amazing performance below.
And if you got chills listening to this young man sing such a beautiful cover, please SHARE his incredible voice on Facebook!
