Kirsten May was on the verge of losing it all. She lost her job and was days away from being evicted. She and her 4-year-old son were going to be living in their car very soon.
Not only that, May was certain she wouldn't be able to give the little boy she loves the Christmas he deserves.
"I lost my job," May tells 12News in the video below. "I lost daycare. I was completely at rock bottom."
Unsure of what to do, the Phoenix, AZ, mother turned to her local police department for help. Boy did they deliver. Officers Jason Harris, Brian Peters, and Ben Carro with the Phoenix PD contacted officer Manuel Reyes.
Reyes works at Home Depot as an off-duty manager and used his connections to get a Christmas tree for the family. The officers enlisted the help of a group called Angels on Patrol which will pay May's rent through the month.
"I cried like a little kid," May says. "My son gets to experience what holidays are about thanks to what these officers did and are doing. It shows they don't just arrest people."
The officers also will load the tree up with gifts and toys for little Nicholas. Fortunately, May was able to find a new job and will be able to get back on her feet soon.
