Former Cult Leader Who Starved His Own Child Speaks Out From Behind Prison Walls

Jacques Robidoux has spent the last 20 years in jail and has a lifetime to go. The former cult leader is speaking out today after years of work and healing that have helped him understand he was a victim of mind control. He hopes to help others avoid it.

In 2000, Robidoux faced a judge after being charged with his son's murder. He was accused of starving the nearly 1-year-old to death.

"He told other members of his cult to ignore Samuel’s pain," a prosecutor stated during his arraignment, per CBS Boston.

Robidoux was part of the Attleboro, Massachusetts-based sect called The Body when another member came to him after allegedly having a vision. In order to save Samuel and another member's unborn child from certain hell, Samuel was not to eat any solid food, only breast milk.

Samuel's mother could no longer produce milk, so the child starved.

"It didn't take long, you know as I was holding him he was crying. He was crying because he was hungry," Robidoux emotionally recalled.

"So as I'm holding him and he's crying and I'm, I'm crying, then of course the thought comes that well in order for me to fulfill this will of God, I have to be strong for my family. I have to be strong for Samuel."

"In order to serve God, in order to save my family, in order to save my son who essentially was dying, and save the child in the womb, I had to go through with this," he continued. Today, he understands God was not involved in this, and he attends virtual group counseling sessions for other former cult members.
