Maria Cardona and her kids had just arrived at their home in Dallas on a Monday night. As she made her way up to her front door, she saw something that made her heart plunge to the bottom of her stomach. Her front window was open!
"I was scared. I was terrified. I was about to cry," Maria says in the video below. Alarmed and frightened, she immediately called the cops.
When the Dallas officers arrived, they did a thorough search of the house — and found nothing. There was no one lurking in the home, and it didn't appear anything was missing.
Then Maria noticed the Christmas tree. All the gifts she had wrapped and carefully placed at the base were missing. The mom of two speculated that the burglars "think that it's probably jewelry or something big or fancy, but it was just kids' presents."
She gave the two officers a description of the children's toys before they left.
The next night she heard a knock on her door. When she opened it, she saw the cops from the night before. She was confused, but then she noticed what was in their arms.
After meeting her daughter, they couldn't bear the thought of her waking up on Christmas morning with no presents to open, so they decided to make sure that didn't happen! In their arms they had several Frozen-themed toys for little Alaina, who they learned is an avid fan of the movie.
Maria was so overcome with emotion that she didn't catch the officers' names, but she gave both of them huge hugs and lots of thanks!
