Clever Crafter Creates Porch Swing Out Of Old Skis

Normally during the summer, you can expect some pretty hot days, but this year has been particularly toasty.

For someone like me, who strongly prefers the wintertime, I've been cranking up the A/C and dreaming of vacationing in Colorado, where the temperatures stay mild and it never gets too humid.

And since it's a dream of mine to move to the mountains one day, it should be no surprise that I paused on a post created by a Colorado native while I was looking through some DIY projects recently.

Skis are pretty easy to come by in the beautiful state of Colorado, so this DIY-er decided to turn his vast collection into a useful upcycled project meant to help people enjoy the mountain air.

Scroll down to find out how he turned old skis into a stunning porch swing, and let us know what you think of his creation in the comments!

The DIY-er began by searching for reasonably priced sets of skis.

After going to lots of thrift shops and garage sales, he had plenty to work with.

After stripping the skis of their bindings, he got to work on cutting and building the frame for the swing.

Using an angle grinder, the DIY-er cut through each ski that would eventually be used for the chair's base.

Positioning the skis for the base, he moved on to the longer pieces intended for the back of the chair swing.

He made sure to measure twice to ensure he didn't make any mistakes before cutting!

After cutting, he sanded down the metal edges.

Next, he applied two coats of clear semi-gloss to keep the edges of the skis from rusting.

Once the wood frame was stained and he pre-drilled a few holes, the base and the back of the chair were screwed into place.

One of the last steps of this project was attaching the hanging hardware so the chair could swing!

As a last-minute detail, he added the front end of a pair of skis as arm rests. The final touch looks great!

Now, he can take in the beautiful Colorado weather from the comfort of his homemade porch swing.
