Even if you're not the least bit Irish, there's still plenty of fun to be had on St. Patrick's Day. From green bagels to green beer, just about everywhere you look there's a different shame of the emerald color waiting for you.
Some folks are even doing green St. Patrick's Day-inspired nail designs, making Leprechaun Hat S'mores, and even baking up a batch of Guinness chocolate cupcakes with Baileys buttercream frosting.
But there's one other treat that only comes around this time of year and it's one that people go crazy over: McDonald's Shamrock Shake!
Even though it packs a whopping 800-plus calories, that doesn't seem to matter to the shake-buying public who shell out loads of dough every March to get their green shakes.
I'll bet you didn't know, however, that you can make your very own DIY Shamrock Shake right in the comfort of your own kitchen, did you? Well, it's true.
In the video below by popular YouTuber BethanysLife, you can see how she grabs a few simple ingredients from the kitchen and, in just a matter of minutes, whips up her own DIY version of the McDonald's treat.
Follow along with the video to see exactly how it's made, but if you want to get your ingredients together first, you'll need milk, vanilla ice cream, peppermint extract, green food coloring, maraschino cherries, and whipped cream.
It's a super simple recipe that basically just involves blending it all up, but be sure to watch to make yours to perfection.
And, if you're into this type of thing, Bethany also demonstrates how to make a Starbucks Cotton Candy Frap. Bonus!
