Since moving into my own home, I've become very guilty of getting backyard envy.
I look at my neighbor's luscious green lawns, their in-ground pools, and perfectly clipped hedges, and wish I could give my own backyard a makeover.
An incredible DIY-er and his dad we discovered on Imgur decided to do just that. Last summer, they built a koi pond next to their old shed. Although the pond looked great, the stucco shed stuck out like a sore thumb.
The shed's structure was solid enough that they decided to strip away the old materials and put some new siding on. The result is absolutely incredible.
Their simple backyard quickly turned into an oasis — one that I would love to have myself.

A DIY-er and his dad decided it was time to give the shed in their backyard a much-needed upgrade.
The stucco siding was outdated and made the sound structure look dilapidated.
They began by smashing away the existing siding with a hammer and a pry bar.
It took a few days and they made quite a mess!
At this point, they decided to add a pergola between the shed and the koi pond; that way, they'd have an additional fancy seating area.
They cut back the plywood overhang on the shed to begin the process of building the pergola.
After picking up some cedar two-by-fours, they got to work on building out the structure.
This part of the process went relatively quickly.
Next, they decided to build a railing on the far side of the makeshift deck.
They found an old window frame at a friend's house and decided to cut a hole into the side of the shed for some natural light!
They decided to take a picture of the siding of their house to get a good match for the shed.
After buying some deck and siding stain, they gave the lumber a rich, dark tone.
Next, they stapled up the house wrap over the plywood and began the siding process.
The process was pretty easy once they got it going!
They tacked the siding in place with a screw on each end.
The guys had some extra siding leftover and didn't want it to go to waste.
They decided to make a box out of it to cover the waterfall filter and it looks great!
The final result is absolutely breathtaking. Imagine walking outside to a view like this!
