A breezy beach house is something we all dream of having, especially on a warm summer day. But if you can't make it to the ocean, you can still enjoy seaside décor in your own home with some easy, DIY ideas.
Decorating with coastal accents is an amazing way to create a vacation-esque feel in any room in your home. That's why when I came across beachy mason jar ideas on Pinterest, I knew I had to try making something similar for my home.
Aside from being fairly simple to create, this starfish mason jar really brings a summer vibe to my home. Plus, I had most of the items already laying around my house, so that made it so much easier to put together. It always feels good to upcycle items into something new.
The finished product looks beyond cute and really adds a beautiful accent to my living room. Every time I walk by, it also brings back great memories of going to the beach with my family.

Directions:
- Apply hot glue to twine and wrap rope around the top of the mason jar until you have three rows.
- Glue individual marbles around the mason jar until you get about 3/4 of the way down. (I decided to alternate between blue and white marbles because it reminded me of deep blue water and white sandy beaches.)
- Apply the second loop of twine around the bottom portion of the mason jar.
- When everything is dry, it’s time to glue the starfish on top of the marbles.
- Fill it up with goodies, a tea light candle, or leave it as is, like I did.
I truly love being able to fill my home with crafts I’ve made myself. I still can’t believe how easy this project is to make — and it all came together in less than 30 minutes! I actually plan to make a couple more this weekend to add to my other ocean-themed décor. I’d love to have one with a tealight inside, so it’ll shimmer and shine off the marbles and bring a relaxing glow to the room. I truly believe it’ll make the space feel like I’m in a relaxing paradise no matter how far from the coast I am.
This beach decoration really looks perfect in my home, but these would also make darling decorations or party favors for a summer wedding, an outdoor party, or even a baby shower. The possibilities are endless.
