Doctor Spends His Days Singing To Uplift His Patients

For one doctor in Oklahoma, no day is complete without a little bit of singing in the office. But, it's not just because he loves singing.

Dr. Corey Finch, who works at the Genesis Urgent and Primary Care in Edmond, OK, serenades many of his patients, primarily those who aren't too thrilled about being at a doctor's office. And according to one of his nurses, he does it all day long.

It's a great way, the doctor says, to help nervous patients get through the dreaded visit.

“It really makes it easy to calm a patient and it calms me,” he told News 9.

Much like the doctor in Pennsylvania who sings Happy Birthday to every newborn or the one who played guitar for his patient after surgery, it’s heartwarming to watch Dr. Finch interact with his patients in this way. And the best part? His singing is actually effective.

Janel Randell, who brings her son to Dr. Finch, recalled the time he sang the Lion King’s “Hakuna Matata” during the child's first visit. The singing made a big difference to the nine-year-old, whom you'll see in the video below.

“Having that extra touch kind of helped,” the mom said.
