It's always hard for me to watch dog rescue stories, because all I can think about is my own dog and what I would do if I was ever in this situation myself!
Growing up, we lived around a lot of woods and ponds, and our dog would always wander by herself. She was always smart enough to stay away from anything resembling thin ice, but not every dog is that lucky. Sometimes, the thin ice is covered by snow, and it's hard for them to tell what they're getting into.
In this daring rescue, a rather large dog has fallen through the ice in Poland. He barks and whines as he slips further into the water, doing his best to keep his head above the ice. Firefighters work quickly but carefully to get a ladder out on the ice, using a tool that looks like it was specifically designed to hook the collars of dogs. Happily, this rescue works out, which means that dog lovers can breathe another sigh of relief!
