Eartha Kitt Sings ‘Santa Baby’ With Some Help From Her Friends

Eartha Kitt was one of the top performers of her time. Her career spanned all the way from 1945, when she starred in the Broadway plays Blue Holiday and Carib Song, to 2010 (two years after her death), when an episode of The Simpsons aired in which she voiced herself. Needless to say, she's a legend.

One of the landmarks in her early career was her 1953 performance of "Santa Baby," a christmas song we all still recognize today. It's definitely one of the more playful Christmas songs floating around, with lyrics like:

"Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree for me;
Been an awful good girl, Santa baby,
So hurry down the chimney tonight."

She continues to ask Santa for gifts more extravagant than some fine furs… moving on to fancy cars next:

"Santa baby, a '54 convertible, too, light blue;
I'll wait up for you…"

Note that she makes sure to specify the color! Nothing other than light blue will do, thank you very much! Let's see what else she wants Santa to leave under the tree

"Santa baby, I want a yacht and really that's not a lot;
Been an angel all year; Santa baby,
So hurry down the chimney tonight."

And, while these requests aren't exactly simple, just wait til you hear her last request. Boy, she doesn't ask for much, does she? Well, she has been an angel. Haha!
