Man Demonstrates How Soaking An Egg In White Vinegar Will Dissolve Its Shell

The wonders of physics never cease to amaze me! There are so many incredible stunts and experiments we can try, simply by using objects in our homes or food in our pantry. One clever dad used just two toothbrushes and some yarn to lift a bucket full of water off the floor!

Now, just using white vinegar, you can make an egg's shell completely disappear! It's not magic, it's just chemistry: if you soak a whole, raw egg in white vinegar, the acid from the vinegar will chip away at the calcium in the egg's shell. After 48 hours, the shell should be almost completely dissolved, but gently wash the egg in water to get the last pieces off.

Once that's done, the egg looks like something out of science fiction! It's perfectly smooth and opaque, though you can see through it just enough to see the yolk inside. The "naked egg" is held together by a thin membrane that makes it bouncy! If you apply a small amount of pressure on the egg, the membrane will resist it.

But if you drop the egg from too high up, the membrane will tear, and its familiar contents will spill out.
