Woman Is Tired Of People Asking Why She’s Single, Then She Decides To Marry Herself

When Erika Anderson got married, it was clear that something was missing. As she surrounded herself with friends and family on a rooftop in New York, Erika was the only one standing at the altar.

And that wasn't a mistake — or even a case of cold feet.

Erika had actually planned a ceremony to marry herself.

In the video below, posted on May 11, 2017, Erika explains that she believes in "sologomy," or marrying one's self. After years of people asking her why she was still single, the Brooklyn, New York, native wanted to prove she didn't need another person to feel whole.

When asked what self-marriage is, Erika replies, "I would describe it as women saying 'yes' to themselves," adding, "it means that we are enough, even if we're not partnered with someone else."

In her proud sologomy ceremony, Erika walks up to her rooftop wedding wearing a delicate white dress and holding a gorgeous flower bouquet. For her, it is a statement of self-love and self-acceptance, and she is proud to share it with the world.

"I choose you today," she announces, as she begins her vows to herself.
