Three years ago, Danise Hegerty paid a contractor to do some remodeling. The monster scammed her out of her home, leaving her electric and plumbing in complete shambles. Her money was gone, and her home was uninhabitable. She was forced to stay in a hotel with her dog, where she would cry night after night. The home was the quaint little house her mother had bought 35 years ago.
Danise contacted ABC Action News to warn others about her experience, which led to the contractor's license being suspended. However, she still couldn't live in her home. Then, a few guardian angels saw her story. An IKEA kitchen installer, Sergio Milosavljevic, volunteered to redo her entire kitchen, sink and cabinets. And All Pro Plumbing gave her entirely new septic system. Danise is overwhelmed with gratitude and is no longer homeless of course.
"I never would have guessed that three years ago when I was crying every night because I was staying in a hotel with me and my dog… it really means a lot to me to see this little house that my mom bought 35 years ago," Danise says with tears. "I don't know why they picked me, but I'm glad they did."
